Comeback Kid Delivers Win on Return

April 27th 2013

Comeback Kid Mark Davies returned to racing in style winning an enthralling Prelude race to the “No Frills Racing Series” at Tudor Grange Park, Solihull. Davies victory on his return from a two year sabbatical also marked Team Cystic Fibrosis’ first win of the season.

Mark travelled to Birmingham for the first round of the National closed circuit racing series. Competing in a field of 60 starters over 1 hour plus 10 laps Davies had plenty of opportunity to show his class and experience recovering from two mid race scares, one of which required a display of excellent bike handling to remain upright after being forced onto the grassy infield by a crash, to remain with the leading group for the closing stages of the race.

With two laps to go a solo break from Mike Farwell appeared to have won the day but Davies, who initially appeared to be chasing a minor podium place, reeled in the tiring escapee and produced a powerful sprint to clinch the win on the line by half a wheel.
