Team CF Testing Action

May 14th 2015

Last weekend saw 2 of the team in testing action. Rob Barnard was very close to coming in under the hour at the Drighlington Bicycle Club event on the Topcliffe 25 mile course, despite some discomfort in the saddle causing him to sit up towards the end. The Rossington Wheelers’ event at Hatfield had a last minute course change because of roadworks at Lindholme. Instead of 10 miles of crosswind, Dave Partridge paid for an effortless 4 miles at 31 mph with the mother of all headwinds on the return leg. His finishing time was 23.02 putting him in tenth place on the day – his best position in an open event.

On Wednesday Barnard and Partridge again braved the wind at the Calder Clarion 10 on the Hemsworth circuit. In extremely unfavourable conditions, Dr. P. finished in 6th with a 24.38. Tink loved the wind so much that he chose to go the wrong way just to get a bit more headwind. He came in at just under the half hour, having literally gone the extra mile.

Performance of the week has to go to Steve Clague, though, who was flying on Wednesday in his first time trial just down the road on the Park Springs course at the BRC 5. He clocked an impressive 11.24, placing him 5th with only very high calibre riders finishing ahead of him.
